Acting is the art of expression, self-expression and above
all something usually performed by an individual who in a way is screaming into
the countless masses, look, see, hear, listen, feel what I have to say.
One might even call it man's often-conceived vain attempts
at immortalizing himself, his beliefs, and his ideals for after all is said and
done, all that remains is death.
To learn acting is to learn or just study different ways
and means of expression and/or self expression. By juxtaposing the terms
expression and self-expression, I can use an example of an actor portraying the
real-life character of Liberace! Now when the actor does this he can either try
to do his best to re-create the sentient being liberace once was by mimicing to
a tee his walk, talk, body language etc., or he can portray liberace in a way
which encompasses a great deal of the actor's own personality and/or
interpretations of liberace, his walk, his talk, etc.
Using the first method loses too much of the actor's own
personality because he can only be a second rate Liberace seeing that only the
real Liberace was the first rate act.
Using the second Method, however, allows the actor to use
all the tools in his own personal acting aresenal to render a one-of-a-kind
unique and original rendition of Liberace which only said actor can accomplish.
That is why I frown on acting schools and most other
schools in general. Instead of truly nursing a person's individual talents and
skills so that they will be the best version of themselves they could be,
schools just want to turnout a uniform product, and in doing so, take a
lawn-mower approach to everything and cut down some of the most beautiful
wildflowers ever all in a vain attempt to make everyone and everything equal!
Haven't we learned yet that difference and contrast is
what gives spice and flavour to life.
